AI Lead Qualification for Tire Shops: Sorting the 2/32 Emergency From the Researcher
Your best salesperson doesn't sleep, doesn't take days off, and responds to every inquiry in seconds. AI Lead Qualification for Tire Shops gives your tire shops business exactly that. Qeystone builds Tire Shops Automated Lead Scoring that integrates into your existing workflow and handles the front end of every customer interaction — qualifying, answering, and booking — so your team focuses on delivery, not intake. Tire Shops AI Lead Filtering System extends that coverage to every channel where your customers reach out.
Two Leads, One Form, Opposite Urgency
Two people fill out the same quote form on a Tuesday night. One is at 2/32 with cords starting to show on an inside shoulder and a four-hour drive on Friday. The other measured 6/32 last month, is mildly curious about what a set of Michelins would run, and will not buy for eight months. The form does not distinguish them. A generic lead scorer does not distinguish them. And the shop, working the list top to bottom in the morning, will very likely call the researcher first. Qualification in a tire shop is the act of separating those two callers, and the signal that separates them is not budget or urgency language. It is tread depth. Everything else is downstream of it.
Fitment Comes Before Budget, Because Without It There Is No Quote
A tire quote request without a size is not a lead, it is a wish. So the qualification chain starts with a tire size lookup, and it starts there even when the customer wants to talk about price, because the price does not exist until the size does. The agent needs year, make, model, and trim — and it needs to know that the trim is the trap. The same model year of the same vehicle can wear a 17-inch or a 19-inch fitment depending on which package was ordered, and quoting the cheap one to a customer who owns the expensive one produces a number that collapses on arrival. When the trim is unknown, the agent walks the customer to the placard on the driver's door jamb, or asks them to photograph the sidewall of the tire that is currently on the car. If the vehicle is on aftermarket wheels, the placard is no longer telling the truth, a tire size lookup keyed to the vehicle will confidently return a size the car is not wearing, and only the sidewall can settle it. Load index and speed rating come next, and they are not upsell hooks. On a truck that tows or a sedan rated for high speed, they are the constraint that determines which SKUs are even legal to quote.
Name the Budget Band Out Loud
Shops are strangely shy about price on a first touch, which is odd in a category where the customer can look up the wholesale cost of the product in under a minute. The agent should state the band, in plain numbers, on the first exchange. Mid-size sedan: $400 to $900, installed. SUV: $700 to $1,200. Truck: $900 to $1,500, and often more. Performance or luxury fitment: $1,800 to $3,000, and occasionally a great deal more than that. Then it should present three real options against the actual fitment — an economy tier, a mid-tier, and a premium tier — each with the out-the-door total including mounting, balancing, valve stems or TPMS service, disposal, and tax. A lead who visibly recoils at $700 for a truck was never going to write a check for $1,400, and knowing that on Tuesday night is worth more to the shop than finding it out on Saturday morning with the car already on the lift.
The Tire Rack Tab Is Open. Acknowledge It.
Pretending the internet does not exist is the fastest way to lose a tire quote request. A meaningful share of these leads are price-shopping against an online retailer, and the agent's options are to match within an authorized floor, to explain honestly what the installed comparison actually looks like once the online tire has to be shipped and mounted somewhere, or to quote the shop's install-only rate on customer-supplied tires, which is typically $25 to $45 per tire and is a legitimate product rather than an admission of defeat. That third branch is itself a qualification signal. A customer who wants install-only is a lower-margin, higher-certainty ticket — and, critically, still a live prospect for the alignment, the TPMS service, and the road hazard coverage, which is where the money was always going to be.
Timing Is a Measurement, Not a Mood
Every other trade has to ask the customer how urgent they are and then decide whether to believe them. This one can measure it. A tread depth at or near 2/32 is legally done and the lead is today's. Under 4/32, wet braking distance is already degrading badly and the lead is this month's. At 5/32 or 6/32, the customer is real but the purchase is a season away, and calling them hard on Tuesday burns the relationship for no reason. So the agent asks for the number, or teaches the penny test in one sentence, or offers a free tread check as a genuinely low-risk reason to come in. A lead qualified with a measured tread depth and a rough annual mileage does not need to be nurtured on guesswork — it has a date on it, and the follow-up program can simply wait until that date arrives.
Fleet Leads Are Not Leads
A landscaping outfit asking about twelve vans is not a tire quote request in any meaningful sense. It is an account conversation involving terms, volume pricing, downtime scheduling, and probably a DOT inspection cycle, and pushing it through a retail qualification script will insult a customer worth thirty retail tickets. The agent's correct behavior is to recognize the shape of it — multiple vehicles, commercial names, mentions of billing or purchase orders — and route it to a human with the fleet's details already collected, rather than trying to close it. Recognizing what not to handle is most of what makes an agent trustworthy.
A Tint Shop Qualifies Against the Law. You Qualify Against the Vehicle.
The nearest thing to this in the automotive category is a hard specification gate, and the trade that lives with one is next door. A tint shop's qualification agent has to establish the legal VLT limit before it can quote anything, and sometimes its correct output is to refuse the sale outright because what the customer is asking for is illegal in their state. Your gate is not legal, it is physical. The wrong tire is not against the law — it simply will not fit the car, or will not carry the load, and the customer will not discover that until the tech is standing there with it in his hands. Which is why qualification here is worth doing before anybody is booked, and why the leads it produces flow straight into a booking agent that checks the SKU is on the shelf and, when the timing says wait, into an outbound program that calls when the tread says so.
